Fitzgerald Park Cork
Fitzgerald Park is a public park in Cork City, located on the Mardyke, a short distance west of the city centre, close to University College Cork. It was named after Edward Fitzgerald, who was Lord Mayor of Cork in 1902 when it first opened.
The park is approximately 12 acres in size and contains a pond, the Cork Public Museum, a sculpture trail, a bandstand, a café, and a large children’s play area. It is joined to Sunday’s Well across the River Lee by Daly’s Bridge (a pedestrian suspension bridge built in 1926 known locally as the “Shakey Bridge”).
The park is a great place for families and friends to meet and wander. It’s full of beautiful flowers, shrubs, and walkways through lovely green areas with a fabulous pond and fountain. It’s great for a picnic. The park and museum are well worth a visit if you are in Cork.
