Ballybunion
Ballybunion is located on the north coast of County Kerry, facing the Atlantic Ocean. It has two main beaches which are divided by the ruins of Ballybunion Castle. The Ladies Beach is on the right and the Men’s Beach is on the left. Further to the left lies a long stretch of sandy beach which is overlooked by Ballybunion Golf Club.
The beaches of Ballybunion attract large crowds of bathers and surfers in the summer and the town has a number of hotels, restaurants, pubs, and cafes. Local amenities also include a children’s playground, a health and leisure centre, and a library. The town has a statue of former American President Bill Clinton, commemorating his golfing visit in 1998.
Ballybunion Golf Club was founded in 1893 and is arguably one of the best links courses in the world. The club hosted the Irish Open in 2000.
